Ellen "Betty" (Sheehan) Giarrosso, 91, died peacefully Friday, November 8, at Community General Hospital surrounded by her loving children. Betty was a lifelong resident of Syracuse who also summered with her family in Wells Beach, Maine. She was a graduate of Vocational High School and the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (Hallacy) Sheehan.
Betty worked at the Syracuse Post Office in her younger years. She also worked for the Board of Elections for many years. Betty enjoyed life, family and traveling especially to Las Vegas. She was an avid golfer and a member of several leagues including Westvale, Westhill and Orchard Vali until well into her 80's. Betty also bowled with her team "The Alley Cats" in many leagues for over 70 years. She was a communicant of St. James and Our Lady of Lourdes in Syracuse. Betty was a wonderful mother and role model who was totally devoted to her family.
Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband of almost 40 years, William, in 1985. She was also predeceased by five siblings: Selena, Annette, David, Jayne, and Daniel, as well as her grandson, David.
Surviving are her six children: William (Barb) Giarrosso of Liverpool, Linda (Brian) Young of West Newbury, MA, L. Timothy (Laurie Jo Nugent) Giarrosso of Rockport, MA, Elizabeth "B.J." (Alex) Mosher of Alexandria Bay, Shelly (Kevin) Williams of Cicero, and Thomas Giarrosso of Methuen, MA; 18 grandchildren: Mark, Bill, Teresa, Brian, Steven, Jenna, Eliza, Magee, Aubree, Tess, Jasper, Travis, Aurora, Kevin, Trevor, Clare, Maeve, and Abigail; as well as 10 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Friends may call on Monday from 4-7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale, NY. Prayer Services will begin on Tuesday, 10 am at the funeral home followed by an 11 am Mass of Christian Burial at The Church of St. Michael and St. Peter, 4782 West Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse. Burial will be in Onondaga Valley Cemetery, Syracuse.
