Patrick J. Gillings, 67, of Minoa, died Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Crouse Hospital. Patrick was born to the late Robert and Edythe Gillings. He grew up in Mattydale and resided in Boston for 20 years before moving back to the Syracuse area. He resided at The Crossings in Minoa for the past 10 years.
Patrick was an Air Force veteran during the Vietnam Era. He retired in 1998 after 20 years as a warehouse manager for the Northern Isles Clothing Company in Boston. Patrick was a 1967 graduate of North Syracuse Central high School. He loved music and in his younger years, was the lead singer of 3 bands: Summerhill, Lazarus, and Zane. He enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and watching classic movies. Patrick was a former communicant of Assumption Church in Syracuse.
Patrick was a great father, brother, and friend. He was an amazing man who was deeply loved and will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Patrick's son thought he was the nicest and smartest person in the world. He was also a brave warrior with a heart of gold.
Patrick is survived by a son, Richard Gillings of Mattydale; five siblings: Thomas Gillings, Kathleen Ceglie, Michael Gillings, Mary Gillings, and Margaret Gillings; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Saturday from 1 - 4 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale.
