Irene A. Goly, 85, lifetime resident of Syracuse, died Sunday at St. Joseph?s Hospital. Irene was born and raised in Syracuse and resided in the Pitcher Hill area since 1951. She was the daughter of the late George and Mary Bolanowski Hanus.
She was a member of the Mattydale-Hinsdale Senior Citizens and a past president of the Altar Rosary Society at St. Margaret?s Church. Irene was a communicant of the Basilica of Sacred Heart Church in Syracuse and of St. Margaret?s Church in Mattydale.
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, John Goly, in 2004, as well as a son-in-law, David D?Agostino in February. Surviving are their four children: John Michele of Baldwinsville, Steven Diane of Camden, Marybeth Mark Rosenbloom and Susan D'Agostino, both of FL; a sister: Eleanore Kinslow of UT; her ten grandchildren: Audra, Steven, and Adam Goly, Jeffrey, Jason, Allison, and Adam Rosenbloom, Genevieve Peterson, and David and Elizabeth D'Agostino; and three great grandchildren: Daniella and Isabella Peterson and Trevor Rosenbloom.
Services will begin on Thursday, 9:15 am at Krueger Funeral Home Inc., 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. A Mass will follow at 10 am in Basilica of Sacred Heart Church, Syracuse. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. Margaret?s Church, 203 Roxboro Road, Mattydale NY 13211 or to the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, 927 Park Ave., Syracuse NY 13204.
