Verna Mae L. "G.G." Gordon, 86, of Minoa, died Saturday at her home. A native of Malone, Verna Mae resided in Mattydale for more than 30 years before moving to Minoa in 1991 and was the daughter of the late William J. and Louise Recine Bombard.
Verna Mae was an avid bowling enthusiast and was a member of several leagues at Strike-N-Spare Lanes in Mattydale. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Minoa and a member of their prayer group.
Verna Mae was predeceased by her husband, Vernon J. Gordon, and due to a tragic drowning accident, her daughter, Teresa, both in 1965.
Surviving are her five children: Diana Scott Kincaid of Chesapeake, VA, Wayne Gina of Albany, Brian of Kirkville, Beverly Lyn Todd of Minoa, and Marie Whitmarsh of Yorktown, VA; a sister: Blanche Webster of Sarasota, FL; her ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Thursday from 4-7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin on Friday, 11:00 am, at St. Mary's Church in Minoa. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse. Contributions in Verna Mae's memory may be made to St. Mary's Church, 401 North Main Street, Minoa NY 13116.
