Fernand "Fern" R. Goudreau, 72, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, died Monday at University Hospital. Fern grew up in Lewistown, Maine and previously resided on Lakeshore Road in Cicero for 25 years. Then, he moved out to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida where he resided since 1997. He was the son of the late Archibald and Amelia D'Amboise Goudreau.
Fern was a graduate of the University of Maine at Orono earning his Bachelors Degree in Chemistry. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Mitscher from 1956-60. Fern retired in 1992 after 25 years as a chemical engineer in charge of quality control for the Fisher Guide Division of General Motors Corporation. Prior to that, he worked at Bristol Laboratories as a chemist. Fern was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and loved to dance.
He was predeceased by his brother, Roger Goudreau.
He leaves behind his three daughters: Elizabeth Danny Harmer of Islip Terrace, NY, Janice Hans Enyedi of Costa Mesa, CA, and Carol Colin Wasteneys of Orchard Park, NY; two sons: David Goudreau of Mannsville, NY, and Paul Melissa Goudreau of Mexico; his three brothers: Bertrand, Larry, and Normand Goudreau, all of FL; four grandchildren: Tyler and Ryan Harmer and Olivia and Chloe Wasteneys; and his former wife: Shirley Goudreau of Syracuse.
Friends may call Thursday from 3:30-6:30 pm at Krueger Funeral Home Inc., 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale with a funeral service following at 6:30 pm.
