Mary E. Svoboda Harris, 89, of Park Rose Estates, Liverpool, passed away Tuesday at Birchwood Nursing Home. Mary was a native of Syracuse and had resided in Mattydale for over 58 years before moving to Liverpool. She was the sole survivor of the late Frank Svoboda and Mary Spinar and her seven siblings.
Mary worked as a cook for the North Syracuse School District for 12 years until 1972and then retired after working for 7 years as the head cook for the main warehouse catering of ACME Markets in Syracuse. Mary served for many years as the president of the Mattydale-Hinsdale Senior Citizen Group and was a member of the Taft Settlement Grange #473 in North Syracuse where she served in many capacities including Master and Treasurer. She also participated in the State and National levels of the Grange.
She was predeceased by her family, Tony, Dodie, Shelby and Marc Harris in 1989.
Surviving are her son James and his wife Lee Ann Harris, of Constantia; her daughter, Patricia Mennotti, of Ft. Meyers, FL; her 4 grandchildren, Andy and James Harris Jr., Mary Ann Thomas and Joseph Mennotti; and 3 great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-7pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale. Prayer will be Friday, 9am at the funeral home. Services will be at 9:30am at St. Margaret?s Church followed by burial in Assumption Cemetery. Contributions in Mary?s memory may be made to the Carol M.
