James R. Hatter, Sr., 71, of Otisco Street in Syracuse, died Thursday, February 2, 2017 at St. Joseph's Hospital. James was a lifelong resident of Syracuse and was the son of the late Carl and Genevieve (Knight) Hatter.
He worked n the foundry of Crucible Steel in Solvay for 14 years prior to 1987. Since then, James has worked odd jobs in the Syracuse area doing light construction including painting and drywall.
James is survived his children: Frances Kirts of Apulia Station, James Hatter of Volney, Edith (Raymond) Wise of Oswego, and Billy (Karen) Ball of Canastota; a sister, Patricia (Elwood) Webster of Canastota and a brother, Burtsul Hatter of Syracuse; many grandchildren including Michael Leonard with whom he resided; and many great grandchildren.
At the family's request, there will be no public services at this time.
