Gerald ?Jerry? St. Hilaire, 62, of Campbell Rd. Mattydale passed away Saturday at his home. A native of Moira, NY, he was a 1965 graduate of Norwood-Norfolk High School and was the son of the late Irene St. Hilaire.
Jerry retired in 2000 after 10 Years as the Code Enforcement Officer for the Town of Clay. Since then he worked for several years for the Town of Schroeppel. He served as the 5th District Onondaga County Legislator from 1988 to 1992 and was currently serving as the state treasurer for the of the N.Y.S. Building Officials Conference.
He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and was a past Commander of the American Legion Post # 1832 in Mattydale, a member of its Color Guard and Les Societe de Hommes Voiture 359. He was also a past Commander of the American Legion Posts in Norwood-Norfolk and Manlius as well as the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 3146 in Mattydale. He was a former member of both the Hinsdale and Mattydale Volunteer Fire Departments.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 30 years, the former Karen Allen, two sons Gerald F. Faith St. Hilaire Jr. of North Lawrence, Chad Bethany St. Hilaire of Brasher Falls, three daughters Shannon Bryan Peets St. Hilaire of Massena, Amy William St. Hilaire-Girndt of Liverpool, Kristin St. Hilaire of Mattydale and 11 grandchildren.
Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 am at the funeral home.
