Patricia Hoey

November 21, 1929 — December 5, 2013

Patricia M. Hoey, of North Syracuse, passed away on Thursday, December 5. Born Patricia Mary O’Brien on November 21, 1929, she was the daughter of Frank and Eleanor O’Brien of Albany NY. She was a loving home maker and met the love of her life, Edward Hoey, whom she married on January 27, 1950. They later moved to Syracuse and raised their three sons, Edward Jr., Mark and John.

Her many friends called her Pat and she was known for her love of tennis, Broadway shows and tunes, but her one true passion was swimming. She was a loving mother and beloved grandmother to her grandchildren, Kaitlyn and James. She loved her daughter-in-law, Kathy, as her own and enjoyed the social events that surrounded her trips to the Hudson Valley for family gatherings. Pat was also committed to community service and was Group Leader for Recovery International, a mental self help organization. Pat enjoyed her friends and had a rich and fulfilling life. Some of the highlights included her 3 trips to Ireland and a trip to the Vatican. Her family and friends will miss her dearly.

Pat was predeceased by her brother Frank, sister Mary and son, Edward Jr. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Edward Hoey, their two sons and two grandchildren (listed above) and by her sister, Sheila Roesch.
