Manuel Holgado, 81, formerly of Richfield Blvd in Mattydale, died Tuesday at James Square Nursing Home. A native of Pyrites, NY, Manuel resided in Mattydale for over 50 years and Buckley Landing since 2004. He was the son of the late Mercedes and Manuel Holgado Sr., was a World War II Army Veteran, and served in Europe.
He retired in 1989 after nine years as an assembler for Killian Bearing in Syracuse. Prior to that, Manuel was a service technician for the City of Syracuse including the Police Dept. Road Patrol. He was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church.
Manuel was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, the former Marjorie Ryan in 2004, his sister Angela Losurdo of Aurora, his brother Joe Holgado and niece Linda Demperio, both of Solvay.
He is survived by his son: Rodney M. Patricia Holgado of North Syracuse; sister: Mary Doc Demperio of Solvay; his two grandchildren, Nicholas & Kelly; a great granddaughter, Jada; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4-7pm Friday at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale. Services are Saturday, 10:00am at the funeral home followed by burial in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Buckley Landing Recreation Fund, 7430 Buckley Road, North Syracuse NY 13212.
