Gordon F. Hotaling, 77, of Thompson Rd., N. Syracuse died peacefully with his loving wife by his side at the Francis House on Friday.
A native of Syracuse Gordon attended North Syracuse High and served in the 439th Engineer Division of the US Army in the Korean War. He has resided in N. Syracuse since the Blizzard of 1966 and has also maintained a summer camp in Cape Vincent at Vincent?s Landing for many years.
He retired in 1994 after 20 years as a supervisor for the N.Y.S. Dept. of Transportation in N. Syracuse. Mr. Hotaling was a member of the VFW Post 3146 in Mattydale, the American Legion Post in Clayton, the Oneida Lake Assoc. and Andrew?s Memorial Church in N. Syracuse. He was also active with the Boy Scout Troop #333 in N. Syracuse, serving as a Merit Badge Counselor and worked on many improvements at Camp Talooli in Pennellville.
In addition to his wife of 55 years the former Elizabeth Herrick, he is survived by two sons Gary W. Pam Thompson of Burlington VT., Glenn R. Lori of Camillus, a daughter Mary E. Hotaling of Syracuse, a sister Thelma Chrzanowski of Cazenovia, three grandchildren Emily, Jeffrey, Matthew, several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 am Monday at the Krueger Funeral Home. Friends may call from 2 to 5 pm Sunday at the funeral home 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale.
