Eric Peter Hundshamer, 43, of Homeland Drive, North Syracuse, died Saturday from injuries sustained in an auto accident in Oneida County. A native of Syracuse, Eric resided in the North Syracuse area for most of his life.
He was a 1982 graduate of North Syracuse High School and was the owner/operator of Red?s Painting & Landscaping in North Syracuse. He provided commercial and residential snowplowing, painting and landscaping services in the Syracuse area for many years. He was known to many of his friends as ?E-Rock? and was a classic car enthusiast. He restored and enjoyed his 1923 Ford T-Bucket which he showed at various events including the Syracuse Nationals. Eric earned his Black belt in Karate, was a Martial Arts Instructor and a member of St. Margaret?s Church. He loved children and held an annual pumpkin carving contest for all the neighborhood kids for many years. With the help of his friend and neighbor Elaine Becker, the pumpkins were then displayed proudly around his house during Halloween. He was predeceased in 2002 by his oldest brother Kevin in a tragic airplane accident.
He is survived by his parents Alois ?Al? Hundshamer Jr. of Syracuse and Verna Donavan Hundshamer of North Syracuse, his step mother Mary Stassi Hundshamer of Syracuse, his daughter Lila Rose Hundshamer of North Syracuse, three sisters Catherine Gene Shensky of Detroit, Marilyn James Crofoot, of Ohio, Janet Taki Petrou of Warners, three brothers Philip of Syracuse, Brian of Philadelphia and Douglas of Thailand, a sister?in-law Barbara Hundshamer of Syracuse and his girlfriend Janet Urban of Nedrow.
Friends may call 4-7 pm Wednesday at the Krueger Funeral Home 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. Services are 9:15 am Thursday at the funeral home and 10 am at St. Margaret?s Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
