Ann L. Huniford, 83, of Alexandria Bay, died Friday at the home of her son unexpectedly. A native of Syracuse Mrs. Huniford resided in North Syracuse for 46 years before moving to St. Lawrence County in 1997.
Ann graduated in 1948 with a bachelor's degree from the Syracuse University School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse at several area hospitals for many years. She then retired in 1985 after 13 years as the school nurse at St. Rose of Lima school in North Syracuse. She was a communicant of St. Cyril's RC Church in Alexandria Bay and was a past president of the Altar Rosary Society at St. Rose of Lima. Ann looked forward to her summers on the St. Lawrence River and winters in Florida. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed the times she spent with her family and friends.
Surviving in addition to her loving husband of 60 year H. John Huniford are two daughters Patricia Arthur Cafarelli of Columbus Ohio, Mary James Tillman of College Grove TN, three sons John M. Huniford of Brewerton, James D. Huniford of New York City and Thomas D. Susan Huniford of Pennellville, a sister-in-law Elizabeth Huniford of Liverpool, nine grandchildren Michael, Robert and Matthew Cafarelli, Jennifer and Daniel Tillman, Kyle and Lauren Huniford, Jack and Ava Huniford, three great grandchildren Matthew and Madelyn Stone and Nicholas Cafarelli.
Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 pm at the Krueger Funeral Home, Mattydale. A Prayer service will begin Tuesday at 9:15 am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose of Lima Church at 10 am. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Dewitt.
