Edward G. Hunter, Jr., 76, passed away on August 26th, 2018 at his home in Lakeland, Florida. Edward grew up in North Syracuse where he graduated from North Syracuse High in 1959; he resided most of his life in the Northern suburbs before moving to Lakeland, Florida, in 2003. He was the son of the late Loretta (Rafka) and Edward G. Hunter, Sr.
Ed enlisted in the Air Force in 91960 and served in Vietnam with the 366 Fighter Wing until 1967. He retired in 1994 after 28 years as a Process Operator at Bristol-Myers Squibb in Syracuse. Ed enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Bristol-Myers Squibb League. He loved classic cars especially the 1973 Camaro he restored and brought to many shows. Ed was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in North Syracuse.
He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, the former Heide (Baugarten), in October 2016.
Ed is survived by their three daughters: Denise Hunter of Syracuse, Michelle Hunter of Boca Raton, FL, and Tanja Hunter of Central Square; four grandchildren: Jeremy Mann, Joshua Mann, Krysta Mann, and Jordan Anderson; a great grandson, Liam Anderson; his brother: Richard Hunter of Liverpool; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday September 7th at the Doubletree Hotel on Carrier Circle from 4 pm to 7 pm.
