John T. Ilacqua, Jr., 51, after an all too short but full life, passed away suddenly Wednesday morning at St. Joseph?s hospital. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late John T. Ilacqua, Sr. and Marilyn Ilacqua of Loudonville, New York.
John was the beloved husband of Mary Cusworth Ilacqua, and the loving and cherished father of John T. Ilacqua, III and Joseph J. Ilacqua. He was the brother of Anthony Kathleen Ilacqua and Brian Ilacqua, of Albany. He was brother-in-law to Thomas & Gina Cusworth of Cicero, Daurice Feliciano of Liverpool, William & Diane Cusworth of Cooperstown, Anne Theocharides of New Jersey, and John Cusworth of Oregon. John is also survived and will be missed by many, many loving friends, too numerous to mention here, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
John was a sometime golfer, and an avid baseball fan. He was the past President of the North Syracuse Little League, past President of the North Syracuse Babe Ruth Organization, and an executive board member of the Cicero-North Syracuse Baseball Booster Club, positions which gave him many headaches but many years of joy. John also coached many teams throughout the past several years, including his son?s teams that made it to the Babe Ruth World Series two years in a row.
John graduated from Siena College in Albany, and for the past 29 years was employed by the New York State Office of Real Property Services as Regional Manager for their Central Regional office in Syracuse.
A celebration of life will be held at Krueger Funeral Home on Saturday the 23rd of December at 10 am. Mary and her sons invite friends and loved ones to share their recollections of times spent with John at this time. Internment will follow at North Syracuse Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
