Florence E. Indick, 83, of Boston Road in Mattydale died peacefully Monday at James Square. Florence was a native of Oneida and resided in Mattydale for the past 55 years. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Laura Owens and attended North High School.
Florence was a foster mother for 10 years with the Onondaga County Department of Social Services. She received the Mother of the Year Award in 1982 from the American Diabetes Association. Florence was a loving mother who enjoyed special time with her family. She was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Rudolph "Shine" Indick in 2000 and her son, Michael Indick in 2005.
Surviving are her two daughters: Kathleen George Giordano of Liverpool, and Joyce Carl Czerenda of Berkshire; two sons: John R. of Syracuse and James W. of Manlius; her daughter-in-law Wendy Indick of Cicero; her two brothers: Russell Owens of North Syracuse, and William Owens of Mattydale; 11 grandchildren and a great grandson.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4-7pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale. Prayer will begin Thursday at 9:30am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret's Church at 10am. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Cristian Andrade of St. Joseph's Hospital and to the caring staff on A South at James Square.
