Phoenix

Jason B. Slade, 54, of Phoenix, NY, passed away on January 12, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born in Syracuse, NY, Jason was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend who left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He was dedicated to his family and was the kind of friend you could count on any day of the week.

Jason is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Hillary Slade; his two sons, Cody and Nathan; his siblings, Brooke Slade and Lee Winchester; his mother-in-law and father in-law, Paul and Virginia Diller; his sister-in-law, Jennifer Diller; his brother-in-law, Paul Diller; and his nephew, Zachary Diller. Jason was preceded in death by his mother, Debbie Slade; and his father, Boyne Slade.

In his early twenties, Jason met the love of his life, Hillary. The two shared a strong connection that led to a 30-year marriage full of happiness and countless cherished moments. Together with Hillary, Jay created a family that was the heart and soul of his world.

Many knew Jason in his role as “The Boss” of Custom Quality Construction. His strong work ethic, leadership, and commitment to excellence earned him the admiration of his crews and the respect of his community.

A proud father, Jason treasured every moment spent with his sons, Cody and Nathan. Whether it was yearly trips to Florida or endless days at their campsite, Jay ensured they created memories to last a lifetime, and the adventures were indeed unforgettable. While the boys constantly tried to keep up with Jay’s quick, clever jokes, his sense of humor was often unmatched. Their family home was filled with constant banter, witty jokes, and pure joy.

Alongside his love for his wife and sons, Jason had a deep bond with his dogs, who adored him just as much as he adored them. Always the favorite in their eyes, Jay treated his dogs like members of the family, showering them with the same love he gave to everyone.

Jason showed his family and friends how to embrace life fully, teaching them the importance of finding joy in the simple things. His love for technology, heavy metal music, Italian Mafia movies, and the San Diego Chargers were central to his personality, and he never missed a chance to share his passions with others. As a life-long Chargers Fan, you could always find him wearing Chargers gear, displaying it, and sometimes even driving it as he’d continue to show his dedication year after year. In addition to supporting his football team, Jay put his all into enhancing every little detail, with his lighting setups being just one of the many ways he made life stand out. Whether he was transforming the campsite into a glowing paradise or syncing his home LEDs with every beat, there was never such a thing as “too many lights.” All in all, from playing intense Call of Duty sessions with his sons, taking thrilling joyrides in his Hellcat, and smoking his iconic beef brisket, Jason lived every moment like a true rockstar.

Jason’s life is a testament to resilience, as he built a world filled with love, family, and joy—living his own version of the American dream. His family will continue to carry his legacy of generosity, laughter, and unwavering spirit.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the end of the month. Details on the location will be available on Hillary’s Facebook page.
