Jean E. Fredericks

Jean E. Fredericks, 101, of North Syracuse, passed away peacefully Wednesday at home surrounded by family. Born in Genoa, NY, Jean was the daughter of Charles and Veda (Younglove) Ford. She retired to Florida, but after suffering an illness, moved back to North Syracuse to live with family.

Jean retired from Allis-Chalmers in Liverpool and was previously a bookkeeper for Merchants Bank. She was a beautiful woman, enjoying flowers and vegetable gardening. She made her last batch of bread-n-butter pickles in 2021, and helped can bushels of homegrown tomatoes. She enjoyed crocheting and made afghans for each child and grandchild in the family, as well as the many she gave away to special friends. Jean was given a tablet in 2019 and although she thought it was a waste of money, she looked at everything and eventually got hooked on Facebook and Messenger, sharing stories and cartoons, and eventually typing messages to friends and family. She downloaded games and played them daily, sharing her accomplishments with her family. Jean possessed an unwavering love of God throughout her years and was a member of the Malden Road United Church of Christ in Mattydale.

Jean was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Fredericks, and three brothers, Carlton Ford, C. Donald Ford, and G. William Ford.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Lee (Dominick) Luckette of Baldwinsville and Donna Jean Shull; her five beloved grandchildren: Michelle Godin, Brian Schalk, Danielle (Alex) Trainer, Noelle Schalk, and Heather Godin; her great grandchildren: David Godin, Renee Dwyer, Gabriel Mercado, Jadyn Godin, Hannah King, Adelyn Trainer, and Mason King; her great great grandson: Isaiah Hoyer; and five siblings: Joanne Woodard, Glenn W. Ford, Roland D. (Linda) Ford, D. Bruce Ford, and Jessie Janette Ford.
