Jack K. Jirousek, 75, died Sunday at Francis House surrounded by his friends following a brief illness. He was born in Lacross, WI and grew up in Lincoln, NE. Jack had been a resident of Fabius for over 40 years. He was the son of the late John J. and Lona Jirousek.
Jack attended the University of Nebraska where he earned his Bachelor Degree in electrical engineering in 1955. He trained in the ROTC program and was a 1st Lieutenant in the US Navy stationed at White Sands, New Mexico. Jack worked as an electrical engineer at General Electric Heavy Military Department, Syracuse University Research Corp, Anaren Microwave, and then retired from Niagara Mohawk in 1994. Jack was a member of the Syracuse Ski Hawks for over 30 years and enjoyed hootenannies with his friends. He loved jazz music and enjoyed sailing, carving, skiing, rafting, motorcycle touring and celebrating with his friends. Jack attended Immaculate Conception Church in Pompey.
Jack is survived by his brother: James Josephine Jirousek of Carrollton, TX; three nieces, Peggy Eggars of Omaha, NE; Patricia Frye of Dallas, TX; and Julie Jirousek of Beverly, MA; his nephew, Steve Jirousek of Kansas City, MO; his special cousin, Dorothy Wedberg of Lincoln, NE; and a very large family of friends.
Friends and family may call Thursday from 5-9pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale. Services will be at Immaculate Conception Church, 7386 Academy Street, Pompey, on Friday at 11am. Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery this spring.
