Joan A. Rankin

Joan A. Rankin, 88, of Liverpool, passed away Tuesday, April 14th, 2025. A native of Washington, D.C., Joan was a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed keeping her home, tending to the yard, gardening and decorating; “her fingerprints were left on everything she touched”. Her primary focus through the years has always been her family. Joan attended St. Joseph the Worker Church in Liverpool and volunteered her time at their various functions.

She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, David E. Rankin Sr., a daughter, Donna Lilly, and a sister, Shirley Pawlewitz.

Joan is survived by two sons, David (Joanne) Rankin of Liverpool and Daniel (Ann) Rankin of Las Vegas, NV; five grandchildren: Nicole, Katie (Michael), Ashley, Bianca, and Kristin; a great grandson, Luca; and her siblings: Eleanor (Harry) Goldthwaite of Mattydale, Linda Russo of Syracuse, Sharon (Jay) Monto of Syracuse, and John (Kathleen) Poplawski of Syracuse.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joan’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.

Friends and Family may call on Saturday, April 19, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. A Service of Remembrance will follow at 3:00 pm.
