JoAnn M. Vassar

JoAnn M. (Pappalardo) Vassar, 70, of North Syracuse, passed away Wednesday, January 4^th after a long battle with cancer. A 1970 graduate of North Syracuse High School, JoAnn was a joy to everyone around her. She was an avid sports fan, a great golfer, and a card shark to the very end. She enjoyed spending time with those she loved including her grandkids, friends and her beloved dog, Margie.

JoAnn was a member of the American Legion Post #1832 Ladies Auxiliary in Mattydale, the former President of the VFW Post #3146 Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the VFW Post #7290 on Maxwell Ave. She volunteered at the V.A. Hospital for many years.

She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Josephine Pappalardo, her loving husband, Richard “Dick” Vassar, and by a stepson, Charles Vassar.

JoAnn is survived by a brother, Frank (Linda) Pappalardo, Jr. of North Syracuse; three stepdaughters, Elisabeth, Katherine, and Katrina Vassar, all of Syracuse; her grandchildren, Logan and Ava; her dog, Margie; and by several nieces and nephews.
