Joseph H.C. Brisson, 92, of The Hearth at Greenpoint in Liverpool, entered the house of the Lord peacefully surrounded by love on February 3, 2023, at Upstate Community Hospital. Born in Syracuse to the late Aldona and Anna (Marion) Brisson, Joseph was a 1949 graduate of St. Vincent De Paul School. He served in the NY Air National Guard during the 1950’s with the “Boys from Syracuse”. Joe resided at 18 Wilbert Drive in North Syracuse for 67 years before settling in The Hearth at Greenpoint in January 2021.
He retired as a bus driver for CENTRO after 20 years of service. Prior to that, Joseph was an independent newspaper distributor for the Herald Journal in Syracuse. He was an avid bowler and golfer earning numerous trophies. Joe got a hole-in-one at Sunnycrest Golf Course and won the Mayor’s Cup twice at Burnet Park. He enjoyed his garden and traveling with his wife, along with spending time with his very large family. Joe was a big fan of the NY Yankees and SU sports. He was a longtime communicant of St. Margaret’s Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister and as a member of the Parish council.
Joseph is predeceased by his three sisters, Mary Rose Ditch, Arlene Ginnan, Rita Reifenstein, two brothers, Aime, Albert, a grandson, Lucas Brisson, and a great granddaughter, Josette Freeman.
Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 70+ years, Sally (Perrigo); their five children: Denise (Scott) Harris of Lakeland, Alan (Josie Campbell) Brisson of Dewitt, Gary (Diane) Brisson, William (Tonya Bowles) Brisson, and Michele (John) Crawford of Virginia; his sister, Veronica "Ronnie" Stafford; 12 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, and by Several Nieces and Nephews.
