John Klodzen, 93, of Mattydale, passed away Saturday at James Square nursing home. John was born in Bitumin, PA, and grew up in the West end of Syracuse. He was a resident of Mattydale since 1953 and the son of the late Francis and Mary (Ronges) Klodzen.
John was a US Marine Corps veteran serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He retired in 1982 after 35 years as a truck driver for Frontier Delivery. John was a former member of the VFW Post #3146 in Mattydale and a member of the Teamsters Local #317 in East Syracuse. He was also a former member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He attended St. Margaret's Church.
John was predeceased by his son, Stephen, in 1974.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, the former Agnes M. Barkley; their two children: John (Frances) Klodzen of Onondaga and Lisa (James) Doback of Collingswood, NJ; a sister: Delores Dziados of Liverpool; and two grandchildren: Ashley (Timothy) Boyle and Christopher Doback; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Monday from 4-6 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Funeral Services will begin Tuesday, 10 am at the funeral home with burial following with military honors in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt.
