Chester "Chet" C. Kozlowski, 92, longtime resident of North Syracuse, died Friday at Crouse Hospital. Chet was born in Syracuse and resided in Mattydale for 70 years before moving to North Syracuse in 1994. He was the last surviving child born to the late Stanley Kozlowski and Eva Ustinanski.
Chet served the US Army during World War II. He retired in 1983 after 43 years as a receiving clerk at Syracuse China Corp. Chet was a member of the American Legion #1832 in Mattydale, the Knights of Columbus Council #3717 in North Syracuse, and of the D.A.V. Chapter 8 in Syracuse. He was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church.
Chet was predeceased by his siblings: Julia Smith, Virginia LaRonde, John, Frank, Anthony, William and Edward Kozlowski.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, the former Helen (Stetes); their daughter: Rosemary Black of Irvine, CA; and two grandchildren, Laura and Benjamin Black.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Chet's memory may be made to either St. Margaret's Church, 203 Roxboro Rd., Mattydale, NY 13211 or to NAVAC, PO Box 215, N. Syracuse, NY 13212.
Friends may call on Monday from 10 - 11 am at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Prayer services will begin at 11 am at the funeral home followed by a 11:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret's Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
