Martha Kuryla

Martha "Marty" Kuryla, 81, of Mattydale, died Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Marty was raised on the West end of Syracuse and was a graduate of Vocational high School. She was the daughter of the late Howard and Lena Mae (Bronson) Mattice. She resided in Mattydale for over 50 years.

Marty worked for Sealtest Ice Cream for several years in the late 1950's before she raised her family. She was a Past President of the Twin and Triplets Club of CNY, an avid bingo player and enjoyed bowling on various leagues at Strike N Spare. Marty was a member of the Mattydale-Hinsdale Senior Citizens and loved to travel with her family and friends. She was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church in Mattydale and a member of their Altar Rosary Society, Socialites and Mothers Club.

Martha is survived by her husband of 64 years, John "Jack" S. Kuryla; their five children: Mark (Deborah) Kuryla of Brewerton, Stephen Kuryla of Phoenix, AZ, Janine (Jeffrey) Spencer of Baldwinsville, Jeffrey (Virginia) Kuryla of Penfield, NY, and John (Kathleen) Kuryla of Cicero; a sister: Rose Mary Kuryla of Baldwinsville; 16 grandchildren: Brian (Tami), Laura (Peter), Stephen, Eric, Nina, Kiara, Jeremie, TreAndre, Joshua, Jonathan, Julian, Elizabeth, Amanda, John, Christopher, and Sophie; and her five great grandchildren: Kailani, Sirena Marie, Jack, Leah, and Katie.

The family extends special thanks to the staff of St. Joseph's Oncology Unit and HOA of CNY. Contributions in Marty's memory may be made to the Mattydale - Hinsdale Senior Citizens, c/o Salina Civic Center, 2826 LeMoyne Ave, Mattydale NY 13211.

Friends may call on Sunday from 1 - 4 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Prayer Services will begin on Monday, 9:45 am, at the funeral home followed by a 10:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret's Church. Burial will be in River View Cemetery, Baldwinsville.
