Mildred “Millie” Tumiel Kuznia, 92, of Boulevard St., Mattydale died peacefully Saturday at Crouse Hospital following a short illness with her loving family at her side.
A native of Buffalo she was the daughter of the Anthony and Angeline Tumiel and resided in Mattydale for the past 52 years.
Millie worked as a receptionist for Dr. Perlman and a clerk at W.T. Grants in the 1960’s and as a housekeeper for the Airport Inn in the 1970’s. She was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church.
While Millie’s brother was home on leave in Buffalo he introduced her to an Army Buddy. They immediately fell in love and eventually married after the war. She and her beloved John were together for 45 years until his death in 1991. She was a great Mom, and an inspiration to her family and friends for being an example of great strength. She took care of her self and her home independently for many years. She was also predeceased by her brother Joseph Tumiel, four sisters Helen Zmarzly, Bertha Kuklewicz, Jean Wilczak and Josephine Pietraszewski. Surviving are two daughters Dolores Michael Gleason of Liverpool, Dorothy Nappi of Clay, a son John Kuznia of Liverpool, a sister Florence Sabadasz of Buffalo, a son-in-law Patrick J. Nappi of Cicero, five grandchildren Jennifer Wood of Liverpool, Jill Jason Simala of Fishers IN, Edward Wood of Liverpool, Christy Nappi of Cicero, Christian Kuznia of San Bruno CA, two great grandchildren Ashley Moran and Joshua Beaudry.
Services will be held 9:30 am Tuesday at the Krueger Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Margaret’s Church. Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Monday at the funeral home 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at Crouse Hospital and Hospice of CNY for their wonderful care and kindness.
