Eunice M. Lasda, 89, passed away in her sleep on September 8, 2006 at her home after a long illness. Daughter of the late Tracey Hotaling and Chloa Munger, Eunice was born on February 3, 1917 and raised on a farm in Pennelville, NY. She moved to her Second North Street home with her first husband, Homer Phillips deceased and their two sons, Myron and Gordon in May 1937. She worked for several years at Owen-Dyneto as an assembler and Van Dyne Hospital as a nursing aid. She retired from the Onondaga County Welfare Agency as a Home Aid in 1979. A long time member of the VFW and Moose Lodge, she was an ardent and devoted dancer and clogger and an outstanding cook and homemaker as well. Eunice was preceded in death by a son, Gordon and two husbands, Homer Phillips and Andrew A. Lasda. She is survived by are her long-time companion, Wasyl Chuck Luczkowycz; her children, Myron Phillips and wife Patricia of Norwich, NY, Andrew Lasda and wife Janice of Buffalo, NY, Sheldon Lasda of Salinas, CA and Sheila Togias of Cicero, NY; 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Gethsemane United Methodist Church, 1700 Butternut St., Syracuse, on September 23 at 3 p.m. with a dinner for the family afterwards. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, or the charity of your choice.
