Mary Carol Lawless, known fondly by her brother as “Irish”, 70, born April 25, 1952, passed away on Monday, July 25th at Francis House in Syracuse. She was a graduate of Bishop Ludden High School, Onondaga Community College and Albany Medical Center School of Nursing.
Mary practiced Nursing for 43 years before her retirement from Hutchings Psychiatric Center as a RN/Clinical Risk Manager. She was a member of the Salt City Red Hat Sizzlers and enjoyed spending time with her Red Hat Sisters. Mary was also very active in the LAOH (Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians) serving several roles including President of the Syracuse Division most recently. She enjoyed spending time with family. She especially enjoyed creating special memories for her nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was the activity fun director for family reunions. The highlight of summer for Mary was golfing, and she was active in several leagues at Westhill and Westvale. Mary attended St. Margaret’s Church and was active in their bereavement committee and food pantry.
She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Arlene Lawless.
Mary is survived by her sister, Lauren (Paul) Zumpano of Liverpool; a brother, Michael Lawless of Fort Wayne, Indiana; three nephews: Sean (Jamie) Lawless of Liverpool, Paul Zumpano II of Cicero, and James Zumpano of Brooklyn; two nieces: Michelle (Brian) Sheldon of Baldwinsville, and Shannon (Justin) Allen of Roanoke, Virginia; and many grand nieces and nephews.
She was beloved by her family and many friends and will be greatly missed.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. A Mass will be held on Friday, 12:00 pm, at St. Margaret’s Church in Mattydale.
