Marcel ?Marty? L. St. Lawrence, 76, of Orchard Drive East, Pitcher Hill, North Syracuse, passed away Tuesday at St. Joseph?s Hospital in Syracuse. He was the son of the late Marcel Louis St. Lawrence and Abigail Leslie. A native of Schenectady, he resided in Pitcher Hill area for many years.
Marcel graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in Schenectady. He retired in 1996 after 33 years as a supervisor for the heavy military division of General Electric in Syracuse. Mr. St. Lawrence was always a very active member of his religious communities. As a young boy he served as an alter server at the Sacred Heart Church of Schenectady and 68 years later he started once more as an alter server at the Sacred Heart Church of Cicero, NY. He also served as a Eucharistic Minister for the home bound, was an alter server for funeral masses, a member of the Sacred Heart Guild, and participated in the Bocce Ball league.
Marcel served in the Navy from 1951-1955 on the destroyer; USS Holder. He was a Special Deputy of Onondaga County for several years. Two of his favorite activities were cooking and being a HAM radio operator with the call letters W2SWN.
Marcel is survived by his wife, Nancy M. Tibbetts St.Lawrence, of 55 years, two daughters; Denise Richard Bova of San Diego, CA, and Mishele Allan Villiers of Seattle, WA; three grandchildren, Eric Villiers, Michael Villiers, and Elyse Bova, two brothers, Damase and Leslie Gene, and a sister, Shirley Venette, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 1 to 4 pm Sunday at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Monday at Sacred Heart Church in Cicero. Burial with full military honors will be in Saratoga National Cemetery.
