Vito T. Long, 81, of Liverpool, died Monday at University Hospital. Vito was a native of Syracuse; he had been a resident of Liverpool for the past 52 years and was the son of the late Vincent and Margaret Long.
Vito was a 1946 graduate of North High. He was an Army Veteran who served with the occupational forces after WWII. Vito was the owner and operator of Long's ARCO Service Station on the North side of Syracuse. Recently he was employed by the Lab Alliance of CNY as a part time courier. He was a communicant of Christ the King Church in Liverpool and served as an usher.
Vito was predeceased by four brothers and one sister.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, the former Lucille Fortino; his brother: Orlando Adeline Long of Forestport, NY; a sister: Olga James Mangicaro of Jacksonville, FL; his sisters-in-law: Olga Long and Grace Long both of Syracuse, Jennie Long of Fort Meyers, FL, Gen Vince Nicotra of Syracuse and Marlene Jerome of Syracuse; his brother-in-law: Frank Annie Fortino of Syracuse; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4-8pm Wednesday at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Prayer will be on Thursday, 9:15am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Christ the King Church. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in Clay.
