Duane A. Loomis, 52, of Campbell Road in Mattydale, died Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Syracuse, Duane grew up in West Haven CT and had resided in Mattydale for the past 20 years. He was the son of the late John S. and Mildred J. Loomis.
Duane was a 1975 graduate of West Haven High and owned and operated D & D Auto in East Syracuse for the past six years. Prior to that, he worked as a mechanic for 18 years at various shops. Duane was a member of the Night Stalker Motorcycle Club and the ABATE Motorcycle Organization. He enjoyed bowling on area leagues for many years and was most recently on the league at Bowling Green in North Syracuse.
Surviving are his six children: April Katura of TX, Missie Steven Wilcox of Rome, NY, C.J. Clew of Syracuse, Duane A. Loomis, II of Mattydale, Maria Loomis of Albany, and Zach Charter of Syracuse; a brother: John Sharon S. Loomis, Jr. of East Haven, CT; his sister: Joanne Al D'Avino of Wallingford, CT; and seven grandchildren.
