Joseph "Joe" Losurdo, Jr., 77, of Roxboro Road in Mattydale died Wednesday in Glens Falls. Joe was born and raised on the North Side of Syracuse and resided in Mattydale for the past 29 years.
He attended Grant High School. Joe served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the New York Air National Guard 174th Fighter Wing. He retired in 1992 after 35 years from General Electric's Radar Division. Joe was a past commander of the American Legion Post #1832 in Mattydale, a long time commander of its Color Guard and the master of ceremonies for the Memorial Day Parade for several years. He was also a member of the VFW Post #3146 in Mattydale.
Joe was predeceased by his daughter, Barbara Rushlo and his brother, Samuel Losurdo.
Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Barbara Losurdo; his step daughter: Kelly O'Connor; three sisters: Carmella Leigh, Josephine Gravante, and Rita Losurdo; his five brothers, Francis, Carmen, Dominick, Peter and Anthony Losurdo; his grandson: Arik Joseph Peris; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Monday from 2-5pm at Krueger Funeral Home Inc., 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Services will begin on Tuesday, 10:00am at the funeral home followed by burial in Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.
