Wasyl ?Chuck? Luczkowycz, 73, of Lawrence Street, Syracuse, passed away Wednesday at his home in Syracuse. He was the son of the late Dimetro Luczkowycz and Maria Illiuk and was a native of Uzhorod, Ukraine and resided in Syracuse for the past 52 years.
Wasyl graduated from Vocational High School and attended Optical School in Syracuse. He worked for 22 years as a supervisor for Onondaga Optical and has owned & operated C& H Market, as well as the Starbright Carpet & Upholstery Business and was a bus driver for the elderly and handicapped. Wasyl was a veteran of the US Army and served our country during the Korean War and fluently spoke five different languages. He was a member of the VFW Post #3146 in Mattydale, a member of the Tipperary Hill American Legion Post #1361 and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Baldwinsville. He was a former communicant of St. John Ukrainian Church in Solvay.
Wasyl was predeceased by his longtime companion, Eunice Lasda in 2006 with whom he resided for many years. Surviving are his daughters, Larissa Prokop of Douglasville, PA; O?darka Putnam of Syracuse; Tesa LaBeff of Syracuse; and a granddaughter, Mahrya LaBeff of NC.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 pm Sunday at the funeral home, 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Onondaga County Veteran?s Memorial Park.
