Mary Ann “Midge” (Dranschak) Mackey, 84, longtime resident of Mattydale, died Sunday, March 3, 2019 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Jessup, PA, to the late Nicholas and Anna (Oleksak) Dranschak, Mary Ann was raised on the West end of Syracuse. She graduated from Cathedral Academy in 1951.
Mary Ann retired in 1995 after 21 years as an Intake Receptionist for the Onondaga County Dept. of Probabtion. She was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church and a former member of their Altar Rosary Society. Mary Ann was an avid Syracuse University Basketball and Football fan who enjoyed gardening and any activity in the sunshine. She was known to always open her heart and home to everyone.
Mary Ann was predeceased by her parents, her former husband, John F. Mackey in 1999 and by her siblings, Nicholas Dranschak and Carol Ann Drumm.
Mary Ann is survived by her two children, Mary Anne "Midgie" Mackey and Joseph J. Mackey, with whom she resided; two brothers, Bernard (Linda) Dranschak of Mattydale and Joseph (Jennilee) Dranschak of Vandalia OH; a grandson, Jeffrey J. (Andrea) Mackey of Clay; and by five great grandchildren: Mikaila, Olivia, Addison, Abbey, and Jeffrey.
Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Krueger Funeral Home, Mattydale. Prayers will begin Friday, 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret’s Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt.
