Edward “Ed” G. Magnanti, 87, of Mattydale, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday at Elderwood at Birchwood. Born February 2, 1926, he grew up on the North side of Syracuse and resided in Mattydale for most of his life. Mr. Magnanti was a World War II Navy Veteran. He retired as the shop superintendent at Morse Manufacturing Company, East Syracuse, where he had worked for 39 years. Ed was a graduate of North High School and an avid Syracuse University football fan. His most valued moments were time spent with his family.
Edward is survived by his wife of 67 years, the former Erma L. (Cordon); one daughter: Deborah (Robert) Cain of Liverpool; a son: Gerald Magnanti of Mattydale; four grandchildren: Daniel (Samantha) Cain of Silver Spring, MD, Carrie Ann (Joseph) Cecere of Gainesville, VA, Donald Magnanti of Clifton Park, and Gina Magnanti of Mattydale; and several great grandchildren.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Funeral Services will be held privately. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery.
