Bertha C. Wlodarski Mahaney, 95, formerly of Mattydale, died Wednesday at Stonehedge Nursing Home in Rome. Bertha was a native of Youngstown, Ohio before residing in the Mattydale area for over 65 years. She then moved to Stonehedge Nursing Home where she lived for the past 5 months. She was the daughter of John and Helen Wlodarski.
Bertha was employed by Dey Brothers in the Credit & Collection Department for 25 years before retiring. She was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church, a member of their Altar Rosary Society and managed the kitchen for many years during their bingo games. Bertha was also involved with the Socialites as well as the Mattydale-Hinsdale & North Syracuse Senior Citizens where she volunteered for the Human Development Office.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. Mahaney in 1953.
Bertha is survived by one son, John Patricia Mahaney, of Williamstown, NY; her three sisters, Agnes Kruczek, of Syracuse, Genevieve Kowalski, of South Bend, IN, Cecilia Salbert, of Cicero; her brother, Ed Wlodarski, of Cicero; her two grandsons, Judd & Jason; and her three great-grandchildren, Judd, Ryan & Brooke.
Friends may call Friday from 4-6pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale NY 13211. Funeral service will be Friday, 6pm at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
