Edward Mahoney

Edward "Ed" D. Mahoney, 77, of Mattydale, died Saturday, July 1st, 2017. Born in Syracuse, Ed was the son of the late William and Ethel (Jetty) Mahoney. He was a 1958 graduate of Onondaga Valley High School and resided in Mattydale for the past 46 years.
Ed retired in 1999 after 45 years as a steamfitter for the Steamfitters Local #818 and later for the Plumbers & Steamfitters Union Local #267. Since then, he worked for Bomac in East Syracuse for the past 13 years. Ed enjoyed bowling and playing softball in years past. He was known for his hitting ability.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Colleen Mahoney, in 2006.
Ed is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Marcia (Wood); three children: William (Beth) Mahoney of Clay, Theresa (Bill) Janack of Syracuse, and Daniel (JoAnne) Mahoney of Mattydale; eight grandchildren: Patrick, Stephanie, Ryan (Gabriele), Maximillian, Nicole, Erin, Everett, and Colin; and by several nieces and nephews.
Donations in Ed's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons St., Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13057.
Friends may call on Friday from 4-7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale, with a Funeral Service following at 7:00 pm.
