Maryann Van Fossen, 81, of North Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at home surrounded by her family. She was born December 15, 1942, to the late Robert and Norine (Keefe) Sanderson. Maryann was an only child.
She graduated from Vocational High School and went to work as a secretary in the legal department of Carrier Corporation. She met the love of her life on a Friday the 13th in 1962 and later married July 4th, 1964. Maryann became a full-time mother and homemaker when they decided to start their family. As her children grew Maryann volunteered with Girl Scouts, took on a typing job working from home and volunteered at the voting polls. When she became a Grandmother (Mama) one of her greatest joys was caring for her Grandchildren. She enjoyed her bowling league with the love of her life and best friends, played BUNCO, and was a faithful SU Fan. Maryann enjoyed her trips to the casinos (both near and far) with Jack as well as trips with family and friends. Most of all she enjoyed her time spent with family and she never missed a family event.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jackie Van Fossen; their two children, Michele (Ernie) Hahn and Jack (Patti) Van Fossen, all of Cicero; and five Grandchildren: Sarah Hahn, Michael Hahn, Heather Hahn, James Dwyer, and Tyler Van Fossen.
