Gerald ?Jerry? Masterpol, 25, of Boulevard Street, Mattydale, passed away Sunday January 22, at University Hospital, less than two days after being struck by a hit and run driver, while selflessly coming to the aid of a stricken friend. Jerry was the much loved oldest son of Gerald T. and Linda Kalkbrenner Masterpol. A lifelong resident of Mattydale, Jerry was a 1999 graduate of CNS High School and worked as an apprentice Plumber for Kessler Plumbing in Syracuse. He was a communicant of St. Margaret?s RC Church in Mattydale. His short life touched many, leaving scores of close friends and family members to remember a vibrant and caring young man, who savored life and lived it to its fullest. Jerry loved spending time outdoors with family and friends. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping in the Adirondacks.
Surviving in addition to his parents, who were his best friends throughout his life are his brothers and sister Jeffrey, Lindsey and Joseph all living at home, his dog Tika, his maternal grandmother Dorothy Kalkbrenner of Syracuse, the love of his life, his girlfriend Jamie Lanty of East Syracuse along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Services will be 10:30 am Friday at the Panasci Campus Chapel at LeMoyne College. Friends may call 4 to 8 pm Thursday at the Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Masterpol family trust in care of LeMoyne College Human Resources Dept., 1419 Salt Springs Rd., Syracuse, NY 13214.
