Richard "Dick" G. Mayer, 91, of North Syracuse, died Friday, December 22 at Loretto Cunningham surrounded by his loving family. Born in Liverpool to the late Charles and Marietta (Evans) Mayer, Dick was a raised on the North side of Syracuse where he graduated from North High School. He resided in North Syracuse for the past 63 years.
Dick was a World War II Army veteran in the Artillery Division serving in the European Theatre. He retired in 1986 after more than 30 years as an electrician for General Electric in Liverpool. Dick was a lifelong member of Pastimes' Athletic Club, and an avid golfer and bowler who belonged to several leagues in the area including Pastimes' and Skyline Golf Course. He was very family oriented and enjoyed spending time with them especially his grandchildren. Dick loved to follow sports particularly the Buffalo Bills, the Sabres and S.U. Basketball. He attended Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in North Syracuse.
He was predeceased by his five siblings, Charles, Bernard, Albert, Ruth, and Hazel.
Richard is survived by his wife of 69 years, the former Millie (Wilcox); two sons: Mark (Sue) Mayer of NJ and Gary (Cathy) Mayer of Clay; two grandchildren, Shannon Mayer of North Syracuse and Alicia (Chase) Countryman of GA; three great grandsons: Mason, Reid, and Hudson; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Friday from 4-7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale, with Funeral Services following at 7 pm. Burial will be Saturday, 10:30 am, at Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.
