Richard “Dick” McClusky, 79, lifelong resident of Solvay, passed away Monday, November 23 at home. Dick was a Vietnam veteran of the US Army and boxed in the service. He retired after more than 20 years as a custodian at Solvay High School. Previously, he was a truck driver for the Teamsters for 27 years. Dick enjoyed racing cars, playing softball, hunting, fishing and drinking beer while playing Quickdraw.
He was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Stefanie (Pochlapek) McClusky, and three sisters: Dorothy Gibides, Virginia Cheevers, and Helen Montreal.
Dick was a loving husband to his wife of 54 years, Elia McClusky; loving father of two daughters, Stephanie (Andrew) Donnelly of Dover Plains, NY and Domenica McClusky of Syracuse; grandfather to Christina and Alex; and brother to Frances (Ray) Scouten of Camillus and Jane Dyer of Syracuse.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
Services will be private but will be posted to our website and Facebook page on Wednesday for those who would like to view them.
