John ?Crash? McGillicuddy, 66, of Halladay Rd., Mexico and Deland, FL, died Friday at his home after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. A native of Malone he was the son of the late Thomas and Helen McGillicuddy, he grew up and resided in the Syracuse area for most of his life before moving to Mexico 20 years ago. Crash also maintained a winter residence in Deland Florida since 1998.
He retired in 1998 after 23 years as a Millwright for New Process Gear in E. Syracuse Before that he was an Iron worker with the Iron Worker?s Union Local 60 in Syracuse.
Crash was a Classic Car enthusiast and raced his stock car known as the ?Six Pack? in the figure eight circuit at most of the tracks in central New York especially Fulton in the 1960?s.
He was a loving husband and father and is survived by his wife of 36 years the former Sandy Susino, two daughters Darlene Rob Whitehead of Camillus, Barbara Mitchell Motyka of Fulton, two sons John ?Jay? McGillicuddy Jr. of Brewerton, Sean McGillicuddy of Mexico, a grandson Anthony McGillicuddy of Central Square, two sisters Theresa Noeller of Camillus, Alice Alberti of Mattydale, brother Thomas McGillicuddy of Conway SC, many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Tuesday at the Krueger Funeral Home 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Funeral services will be 10 am Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Peter?s Cemetery in Oswego.
