Ella May McLaren, 72, died Monday at Rochester General Hospital. Ella May was a native of Syracuse and had resided on Mitchell Ave in Mattydale for 50 years before moving to Rochester in 2005. She was the daughter of the late August and Josephine Brooks.
Ella May was a 1954 graduate of North High. She worked at Gravina's Nursery in Liverpool as a bookkeeper for 15 years; prior to that was a secretary to Carl Dengal, Esquire in the 1950's. Ella May was the past president of the VFW Post #3146 Ladies Auxiliary and served as its treasurer for 25 years. She was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church.
She was predeceased by her husband, William G. McLaren in 1994.
Surviving are her two daughters: Linda Raymond Baker of Spencerport, and Donna John Preston of Rochester; her son: William Janet McLaren of Mattydale; two brothers: John A. Brooks of Baldwinsville, and Thomas A. Brooks of Syracuse; and five grandchildren: Steven, Allison, Haley, William, and Hannah.
Friends may call from 4-7pm Thursday at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale. Prayer will be at the funeral home Friday at 9:30am followed by a 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret's Church. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery, North Syracuse.
