Brian A. Messer, 45, of Kirkville, died Saturday, October 15, 2016. Born and raised on the north side of Syracuse, Brian attended Henninger High School. He resided in the Lyncourt and Kirkville areas before his passing.
Brian was employed as a full time EMT at both EAVES and NAVAC Ambulance Corps. He was an EMS Lab instructor at Upstate Medical for the past year and served as a CPR instructor for several years. Brian was a Past Lieutenant of Lyncourt Volunteer Fire Dept. and a past member of the Mattydale Volunteer Fire Dept. Volunteering was in his blood; he started volunteering at the VA pharmacy and later joined the explorer posts at NAVAC and the Syracuse City Fire Dept.
Brian was predeceased by his mother, Mary Messer, in 1998.
He is survived by his children: Brandon Messer of Mattydale, Crystal Bridenbaker of Syracuse, and Jonathon, Brianna, and Lexi DeFreitas, all of Kirkville; his father, Andy Messer of Syracuse; two sisters: Kim (Paul) Tackman of North Syracuse, and Dawnmarie (John) Breedlove of FL; his former wife, Hope Messer; and his girlfriend of 6 years, Tina Hodge.
Friends may call on Thursday from 2 - 7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Funeral Services will be 11 am Friday. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery.
