Martha Meter

Martha M. Van Meter, 73, of Sheatree Lane, North Syracuse, died Thursday at her home following a lengthy illness. A native of Caine AR, Mrs. Van Meter resided in the N. Syracuse area for most of her life.
Martha was a 1955 graduate from St. Joseph?s School of Nursing and later graduated Cum-Laude in 1973 with a Masters degree in Psychology from Syracuse University. She retired in 1994 after 20 years as a Psychiatric Nurse Counselor at Hutchings Psychiatric Center.
She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd who died in 1997 and her daughter Elizabeth who died in 1993. Surviving are her daughter Laura and husband Robert Van Meter-Woodward of Charlotte NC, five sons Robert A. and wife Cindy Van Meter of Burke VA, William J. Van Meter of Slidell TX, James A, and Daniel P. Van Meter both of North Syracuse, Richard L. of Oklahoma, seven grandchildren Jeff, David, Robert and Sarah along with Mitch and his mother Chris, John, Steven and their mother Heidi.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Tuesday at the Krueger Funeral Home 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. Services will be 11 am Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery.
