Michael Barr

Michael “Mike” Frederick Barr, 73, of Baldwinsville, was called to the Lord on September 19, 2024. Mike was born on April 25, 1951, to the late Fred and Carmen (Eldridge) Barr in Gouverneur, NY. He grew up in Gouverneur, Plattsburgh, and North Syracuse areas and spent most of his married life in Baldwinsville. Mike was a 1970 graduate of North Syracuse High School and attended Onondaga Community College.

He was employed at Home Depot in Clay for the past 22 years. At his first job at WT Grant’s, he met the love of his life, Barbara Wieczorek. Mike’s life revolved around his wife and in later years, his grandchildren. He loved taking care of the yard and landscape, traveling, and enjoyed cooking. Mike’s happy place was Oneida Lake. You could always find Mike with a bottle of Dr. Pepper in his hand and wearing a Donald Duck T-shirt. He was a collector of all things Donald Duck. Mike was a founding member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister.

In addition to his parents, Mike was predeceased by his father and mother-in-law, Alfred and Marie Wieczorek.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Barbara; their two children: Julie (Mark) Forderkonz of Brewerton and Kristie (Jess) Dixon of Brandon, FL; five grandchildren: Allison, Madeline, and Jack Forderkonz, and Brayden and Bryce Dixon; his brother, James (Diane) Barr of Plattsburgh; a sister, Connie Naftel of Niceville, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Francis House in Syracuse and asks contributions in Mike’s memory be made in their care at 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208.

Friends may call on Monday, September 23, from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 24, at 10:00 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Baldwinsville.
