Andrew F. Mondo, 71, formerly of 206 Matty Ave. in Mattydale, died Sunday, May 27, 2018 at the Veterans' Medical Center in Syracuse. Andrew was a lifelong resident of Mattydale before moving to North Syracuse last year. He was a 1966 graduate of North Syracuse High School.
Andrew was a US Navy veteran serving in the Vietnam War aboard a Patrol River Boat. He owned and operated A & M Carpet and Linoleum for 40 years until retiring in 2008. Andrew was a life member of the VFW Post #2246 in Rome and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was predeceased by his parents, the late Joseph and Olga Mondo.
Andrew is survived by his wife of 35 years, the former Margaret (Wiemeier); two step-sons: Thomas (Renee Hart) Devaney of North Syracuse and Sean (Ashley) Devaney of Pennellville; two brothers: Joseph (Cindy) Mondo of North Syracuse and David (JoAnne) Mondo of North Syracuse; and seven grandchildren: Melisa Devaney, Amanda (Tyler) Carman, Jeffrey Iglesias, Talia (Ben) DuFour, Sean Devaney, Liam Devaney, and Ava Devaney; two great grandchildren: Tyler James and Addison; and by several nieces and nephews including Nichole Mondo Bucci and Joseph Mondo, Jr.
Friends may call on Friday from 10 am - 12 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale, with a Funeral Service following at 12:00 pm. Burial will be in Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.
