Virginia Moore

September 5, 1919 — August 12, 2008

Virginia "Ginny" Moore 88, former long time resident of Mattydale, died August 12, 2008 in Fairport, NY.
Ginny received an associate's degree from Rochester Business Institute. She worked as a medical/executive secretary for many years. Later Ginny worked at Loretto Geriatric Center as an executive secretary until she retired in 1982. After retiring, Ginny kept a busy schedule volunteering and being social. Her calendar was always filled with activities. Some of her special interests were bridge, music and dancing. She enjoyed camping with her late husband "Dinty".
She was a very active participant at her church, Calvary United Methodist and in the community. At one time she was a Girl Scout leader for 2 troops, treasurer for Mattydale PTA Mother's Club. She was a Sunday school teacher for 20 years. She was president of United Methodist Women 1992-1997, was very active with Church Women United, including 2 years on its board. She served the homebound outreach ministry for 6 years and was also a member of the United Methodist Women of Calvary Church's Mission Circle and Women's Guild.
She enjoyed senior activities at the Salina Civic Center and was a member of the Cicero Swap Red Hat Society.
Ginny was known for her sunny outlook, with a smile for everyone. Her family, friends and church were the center pieces' of her life. She loved life and enjoyed everyday to its' fullest. She lived her life by the golden rule.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 41 years, Earl K. Moore in 1983, infant son Glen Douglas Moore, and 4 siblings.
Ginny is survived by her loving daughters: Donna Moore Hennessy of Fairport, NY and Valerie Moore Cappiello of Burnsville, MN; five grandchildren: Kelly Hennessy of Tempe, AZ, Mark Hennessy of Arlington, VA, Kyle Cappiello of Farmington, MN, Keith Cappiello of Apple Valley, MN and Claudia Cappiello of Burnsville, MN; her sister: Edith Meade of North Syracuse; sister-in law: Jane Barlow of Andover, MA; plus many nieces and nephews, including Bonnie Ranger of North Syracuse. She will be missed by many caring friends and neighbors.
Friends may call on Friday from 4-7pm at Krueger Funeral 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. Services are Saturday, 10:00am at Calvary United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Aurora of Central NY, Inc. formerly Lighthouse for the Blind and Central New York Association for the Hearing Impaired, 518 James St., Suite 100, Syracuse, NY 13203.
