George Muhl

March 30, 1921 — December 3, 2008

George F. Muhl, 87, of Garden City Drive in Mattydale, died Wednesday at Loretto. George was a native of Syracuse and resided in Mattydale since 1950. He was the son of the late Arthur and Henrietta Muhl.
George was a World War II Naval Veteran and served aboard the USS Chiwawa. He was employed by General Electric as a tool & die maker for over 30 years and then in the electronics lab for 11 years until retiring in 1983. George was a fourth degree knight and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3717 in North Syracuse, a member of the Mattydale-Hinsdale and the Socialites senior groups, as well as a communicant of St. Margaret's Church.
He was predeceased by his five brothers: Jim, Art, Norb, Ed and Tom Muhl.
George is survived by his wife of 67 years, the former Helen J. Thornton; his son: Robert Peg Muhl of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren: Maureen Golden, Robert Muhl, Amy Shirey and Michelle Kirkpatrick; his six great grandchildren: Andrew, Marina, Kaitlyn, Sophia, Hannah and Owen; and several nieces & nephews.
Friends may call from 4-7pm Friday at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale. Prayer will begin at the funeral home at 12:30pm on Saturday followed by Mass at St. Margaret's Church at 1pm. Burial with military honors will be in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Margaret's School Angel Fund, 203 Roxboro Road, Mattydale NY 13211.
