Edward M. Mumford, 70, of Lakeshore Road in Cicero, passed away Sunday at Crouse Hospital. Born in Bradford, PA, Edward grew up in the Tonawanda area where he graduated from Tonawanda High School in 1962. He was the son of the late Guy and Edith (Himes) Mumford.
Edward was a Vietnam Veteran with the US Marine Corps serving from 1962-1966. He graduated Tampa College in 1976 earning his Associates Degree in Science. Edward retired in 2006 after 35 years as an elevator mechanic with Millar Elevator Company in Syracuse. He enjoyed many of the activities associated with living on Oneida Lake including boating, fishing, riding jet skis and having bonfires.
Edward is survived by his wife and longtime companion of 26 years, Jane Barnholdt-Mumford; three daughters: Julie (Steve) Henderson of Liverpool, Lauren (Wayne) Miller of Dewitt, and Ashlee (Michael) Swanson of Cicero; his siblings: Robert Mumford of GA, Wanda Seabol of FL, and Joyce Kaszubski of OH; his five grandchildren: Mackenzie, Collin, Alyssa, Deven, and Connor; several nieces and nephews; his dog, Lexus and his kitty, Maggie Mae.
The family will hold a gathering following Military Honors at their home, 7209 Lakeshore Road, Cicero, on Friday, August 8 at 3 pm.
